A pulse oximeter relies on the light absorption characteristics of saturated hemoglobin to give an indication of oxygen saturation. Pulse oximetry is a noninvasive method for monitoring a person's blood oxygen saturation. Peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2) readings are typically within 2% accuracy (within 4% accuracy in 95% of cases) of the more accurate (and invasive) reading of arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2) from arterial blood gas analysis. The compact Edan H10 finger pulse oximeter meets all the requirements of a modern, mobile pulse oximeter in finger size, not only for emergency use, but also for monitoring patients. The display rotates in 4 switchable directions, making it easy to read from different angles. A wider measuring range of SpO2 and PR is displayed than in the previous generation of the H10, as well as the perfusion index (PI). The pocket-sized oximeter provides reliable SpO2 values at rest and is suitable for sampling, triage and home care applications.
