The Drager X-pid 9500 Portable PID Gas Detector is a selective gas measurement instrument designed for detecting hazardous volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including benzene, butadiene and other toxic substances. It combines gas chromatography (GC) with photoionisation detection (PID) to separate individual compounds in gas mixtures and measure specific substances at very low concentrations. Benzene measurements can start from 50 ppb, making it suitable for occupational exposure monitoring and industrial safety applications.

The Drager X-pid 9500 uses a sensor unit, an explosion-protected smartphone control unit and a dedicated mobile application. It offers two measurement modes: Seeker mode for detecting and locating VOCs, and Analysis mode for selective measurement of individual target compounds. Its integrated sampling pump supports connection to a sampling hose up to 10 metres long, allowing measurements in difficult-to-access areas.
